"new statement" wristwear from Hermes

Even on bucolic Cape Cod, there's no slowing time, but Hermès' updated iconic Cape Cod watch lets you pretend. The new Cape Cod H1 Grandes Heures' face shows numbers arranged in a less rigid, more wishful arrangement: spaced far apart (tempo adagio, says the company) for leisurely break times and cocktail hours, closer together (tempo accelerando) for the working ones. Accordingly, the hour hand slows during the long stretches and quickens its pace for the short. (The minute hand, lest you lose your ability to tell time altogether, ticks regularly throughout.) We'd caution that your watch's inspired sense of duration isn't a watertight excuse for explaining away a two-hour lunch, but we're guessing anyone up to the investment is dictating their own schedule.
$9,500, available at (800) 441-4488 and hermes.com
