Circle in the square

Hermès has a new series of limited-edition scarves out, and behind the poetic names (Greek Island, Silver Dawn) are art works originally created in 1964 by the Bauhaus master/mathematician Josef Albers. Based upon Albers’ “Homage to the Square” series, the six reproductions take their cue from his fascination with chromatic color variations. That said, let’s move on to the fundamental task of accessorizing this season. Should you be lucky enough to snag one of the 200 examples produced in each design, allow us to remind you of the following: It’s hip to square (pun definitely intended).
