Jack McCollough and Lazaro Hernandez brought pessimistic with vintage architecture to runway. This is very refinement and so fresh on the vintage track. I really odored high-waist top and skirt, they remind me of some classic movies but the materials so O-O-H , feel like looking thru Miuucia's view. It's excited to see new generation deliver that kind of level for us. BRAVO

Gotta be fair to her that Vera Wang is underestmated for her ready to wear collection. Since, everyone is still attached with her wedding moment. However, she proves so hard previously and still to show her magnificent style and technique that no one can pull her away. But this collection might be shiny since she emerge her brighter side on her selection on color scheme that lively and approachable. The layer of fabric was amazing and her funky attitude was highlighted in positive way. I like her pink scene. It reminded me a little of Balenciaga pink pale tone.

I really found myself enjoy the show even though the color scheme and shape are quite weird from the trend but , hello, it's Rodarte. This collection is still consistency to her positiong of feminity with deep dark side in her mind. That's why lots of young hollywood star would like to attach with Rodarte to show that they have guts with her pretty face! Ultimately, i think Laura Mulleavy's works remind me of Dior of John Galliano last 5 years. I think LVMH should count her in the lists of successor.

I am a big fan if brit-old school duo Thea Bregazzi and Justin Thornton. I found they are so edgy but also feminine. This collection is so sweet and graceful. I think the shape and length made the looks a little bit older but nice. The way they layer and construct the prints are relevant and complete. This collection is outstanding from other in NYFW and i've heard that both models and buyer really adored this collection.

I've gotta admit that i almost fainted when i saw Thakoon's first look. I can't get it. However, from 2nd to last, he made me feel like this show was in Paris. The shape, the fabric, the color were so sophisticated and beyond ordinary NYC. The print somehow didn't state what exactly the inspiration came from but the answer was clearly reveal when the last group of dress came out with one sholder shawl that derived from Indian costume. This collection is eminent and majestic.

Rei Kawakubo's theme this season, "tailoring for punks," could almost have been applied to her earliest years with Comme des Garçons, when the formality of the style and the ferocity of the attitude combined to create the blueprint that prevails to this day. In reality, the show itself was a notably polite affair. From the outset—a slim black duffel, a lean skirt, chisel-toed shoes and socks—the emphasis was on an elegance that was almost Edwardian. Immaculately tailored pieces in classic fabrics like houndstooth and Prince of Wales check certainly spoke to that era. a new couple reveal "Versace + H&M"

The Swedish mega-retailer looks to be on a roll. After the success of its stampeded-for Lanvin for H&M collection, the company announced today that its designer collaborator for Fall 2011 is none other than Versace.

According to Donatella, the collection for H&M will be “quintessentially Versace,” inspired by the archives, and including clothing, shoes, accessories, and jewelry for men and for women. (It’s also the first H&M designer collaboration to include home pieces, including Versace for H&M pillows and a bedspread.)

The studded leather dress Versace wore for her bow at her men’s runway show in Milan yesterday gave the world its first glimpse at the forthcoming collection, which hits U.S. stores on November 19th. A follow-up Pre-Spring collection by Versace for H&M will be available January 19, 2012, exclusively online in countries where H&M offers e-commerce.

She said she thought the message was from a friend named Anna and replied with a bleep-worthy response. The text back from the Vogue editor-in-chief said, "How lovely."

The Met's Savage Beauty McQueen exhibition has been extended due to huge popularity. The display will now close on August 7, a week later than its original closing date. Its opening day was the biggest ever for the Met, with over 150,000 visitors having since visited the exhibition. The New York museum is also launching a Met Mondays with McQueen programme on June 6 - where visitors will have special access to the galleries between 9.30am and 2.30pm, while the rest of the venue is closed.

A second high-style/low-price hook-up took place last week from the same source: Tokyo Fast Retailing, which is the umbrella company of the American brand Theory.

Olivier Theyskens, the Belgian designer known for a couture sensibility, has been tapped by Andrew Rosen, chief executive officer of Theory. In the spirit of the Jil Sander/Uniqlo collaboration — but at a middle-market price point — Mr. Theyskens is taking to Main Street an aesthetic that has formerly been seen at the Paris houses Nina Ricci and Rochas.

“I think it is a breakthrough for the next generation — it has to do with clothes that are not so preciously made, but made with great integrity,” said Mr. Rosen, who founded Theory in 1997 in partnership with Elie Tahari. “Today, you can’t just be good — you have to be great. When the Jil Sander Navy pre-spring collection arrives in December, don’t go looking for it, say, on Barneys’ Co-op floor—even though prices start at less than $200. According to Laura Vazquez, executive vice president, the brand hopes that department stores will display Navy alongside the more expensive Jil Sander line, perhaps even mixing it in with pieces straight off of Raf Simons’ Milan runway.

That’s not so hard to imagine. Like the main collection, there’s a strong architectural undercurrent to Navy. Silk handkerchief dresses boast linear prints; deceptively simple tanks are constructed with hidden bandeau backs to create interesting volumes; and trenches are color-blocked for graphic impact. Signature Sander-isms like crisp cotton shirtdresses abound, as well. The collection is 200 pieces strong, and along with the bold yet minimal clothes, you’ll find practical totes in the same nylon used for the outerwear, metallic silver gladiator sandals, and two-tone canvas oxfords. Our favorite item: the $400 bi-stretch cropped and tapered twill pants (pictured above). As Vazquez put it, “It’s not a pant, it’s not a legging, it’s just perfect.” Agreed.

Dior made its runway debut in Shanghai on Saturday night with a sixties-chic Cruise collection inspired by the French New Wave. In the front row were house muses Charlize Theron and Marion Cotillard. They joined LVMH chairman Bernard Arnault, Dior CEO Sidney Toledano, and some 500 guests in a 150-meter Dior gray tent constructed along the Huangpu River in the historic colonial district The Bund, not far from the site where Chanel put on its pre-fall show last December.

The show was the climax to a two-day extravaganza that included the reopening of Dior's Peter Marino-designed Plaza 66 boutique, now twice its former size, and the launch of the new fragrance Escale à Shanghai; as well as a grand exhibition of archival clothing, art, and films. But at the after-party, as guests partied to the live sounds of Kelis against the shimmering backdrop of the iconic Pearl Tower, it was clear that brand Dior has its eyes on the future.

Gap creative director Patrick Robinson took a push-pull approach for the global debut of his Spring 2010 collection yesterday in Tokyo, offering a mixed-up pastoral look set against this high-tech metropolis. “In summer you want to see something green. You want to escape,” Robinson explained during the presentation. “So I just made fun of that. I made these urban gardeners.” Since Robinson took the reins in 2007, Gap’s Spring show has hopped around on a world tour that’s made its way to Tokyo via New York two years ago and London last season. On each stop, the designer tries to reflect a sense of place.

For the Tokyo show, staged in the hip Omotesando district, he described the collection as having an urban eclectic DIY element. The look here revolved around three main stories: the virginal, featuring loads of pale denim paired with wispy vintage-inspired broderie anglaise pieces; the ultra-layered gardener, consisting of mismatched florals and washed out plaids over khakis; and finally, the folkster, with flowing scarves, khaki jackets, and patchworked denim. Nude and navy platform espadrilles and floral-accented deck shoes by Pierre Hardy kept all three looks grounded. “For Fall this will totally change. Everyone goes back to work,” Robinson remarked. But oh, to keep making daisy chains forever.

When we ( WWD )chatted with François Nars last spring after his heralded return to the world of backstage beauty, he was just as excited to talk to us about cameras as concealers. The face painter, who moonlights as a shutterbug, has published two different photography books and will be debuting his third effort next month. “It’s the same approach,” Nars says of his favorite mediums. “When you make up someone you want them to feel good and beautiful. With photography, it’s the same: Make the light beautiful, have fun.” 15×15, as his new tome is called, will be available for 30 days only when it bows in mid-November, and there’s a countdown to its release currently in progress at www.15×15project.com. The celebrity portraits in the new book channel iconic images, people, and emotions while giving some face time (or nail time, as the case may be) to a classic Nars product. That would be Nars Dovima lacquer on Marc Jacobs, who is re-enacting a sixties-era Richard Avedon photo above.
